Tonight: Rocktoberfest and Latin Food Fest

The U.S. in general is thought of as a melting pot. People have travelled from all-across the world in with dreams of better lives for their children–whether those dreams come true or not is a whole other story. Regardless, the many people have crossed these borders brought with them different cultures, and, well different foods–luckily.

South Florida is just as diverse as the rest of the country. And, well, the area is known for partying. Could you actually come up with a better drinking excuse than celebrating cultural diversity? Doubt it. If that’s a bandwagon you’re ready to hop on, we have some events for you: from German beer drinking to Latin American wine and dancing. After the jump, check out the parties.

Rocktoberfest

Oktoberfest may be officially over in Germany, but south Floridians are still honoring the German spirit by seriously partying on in downtown Fort Lauderdale’s Esplanade Park. The fifth annual Rocktoberfest, which will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, will feature live music, beer, and food trucks. Food trucks include Nacho Bizness, HipPops, Lucille’s, Ms. Cheezious, and the Rolling Stove. It runs from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets are a $ 30 donation at the door ($ 25 in advance), which includes entertainment and beer samples. For a $ 40 donation paid in advance, guests are entitled to the same beer and entertainment, as well as cocktails and food samples from local restaurants, giveaways, and more. Third Annual Latin American Food and Wine Festival

South Florida is anything, if it’s hot. Spice things up a bit today with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County’s Third Annual Latin American Food and Wine Festival. The event will feature over twenty area restaurant’s showcasing Latin-inspired food and beverages, including Coolinary Cafe, Talay Thai, Brio Tuscan Grille, Cabo Flats, Havana’s Cuban Restaurant, The Blind Monk, Dirty Martini, and more. From 5:30 to 9:00 pm Mainstreet at Midtown will be transformed into “Calle Mayor,” street party style. There will be live Latin music, ballroom dancing, and a performance by the Maltz Jupiter Theater. Tickets cost $ 40, which includes access, entertainment, food and drink tastings, and a commemorative wine glass with tray. Click
