Five South Florida Dining Events This Weekend: Fort Lauderdale Bus Loop and More
In case your Facebook feed hasn’t yet alerted you to this a thousand times over, Florida is bracing for a hurricane. Maybe. And while it’s too soon to say what wrath Isaac hath wrought, one thing is certain; things are gonna get wet. (There’s no way to not make that sound dirty, so why bother.)Â
Barrett’s Sly Fox in Fort Lauderdale isn’t trying to give a damn about Isaac. They’re throwing down with a classic hurricane party on Sunday with shot and drink specials all day and night, not the least of which is the $ 5 Isaac rum punch. Chances are good you’ll find a hearty crew of drinkers at other impromptu hurricane parties at bars and pubs up and down the coast.Â
After the jump, find a list of five dining and drinking events this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Wilton Manors, and beyond. Wherever your plans take you, maybe leave the expensive kicks at home and bring an umbrella.Â
1. Fort Lauderdale Bus Loop
It’s time again to drink, drink, and drink some more, while leaving the driving up to a safe and sober driver. The Fort Lauderdale Bus Loop returns Saturday and the list of participating bars includes rowdy favorites like McSorley’s Beach Pub, the Parrot, and Lulu’s Baitshack, among many others. The loop runs 6 to 11 p.m., during which time participants can take advantage of free drinks and snacks, plus other goodies. Click here for more details.Â
2. Weekend-long anniversary party for Matty’s on the Drive
The groove is in the heart and the party’s on the drive this weekend when a Wilton Manors favorite busts out some serious anniversary celebrations. Matty’s on the Drive is marking its four-year-anniversary all weekend with crazy shenanigans including two appearances by Lady Miss Kier, the sassy redhead from Deee-Lite. Get more details on the weekend of drinking and dancing by clicking here.Â
3. ’70s Party With Gilda’s Club
It’s a long way from Studio 54 — a long, loooong way — but nonetheless, Mickey Byrne’s Irish Pub will go all ’70s on Saturday night for a disco-era-themed party to benefit Gilda’s Club. The fundraiser is $ 10 to get in and the cover charge includes a free drink, plus other drink specials throughout the night. Find more details on the event here. Â
4. Dancing in the Sky
If you’re looking for drinking and dancing, but Matty’s on the Drive sounds too raucous for your tastes, you can check out the more low-key, but still lively, Dancing in the Sky fundraising event Saturday night. The dance is 6 to 10 p.m. in Carmen’s at the Top of the Bridge Restaurant in the upper level of the Bridge Hotel in Boca Raton. The view will be fantastic even if your dance moves are all flailing arms and The Running Man. Click here for more details about the event.Â
5. Wine tasting at Rustic Cellar Wine Bar
The Rustic Cellar Wine Bar in Boca Raton is hosting a seven-part wine tasting on Saturday with pairings that include light apps (like stuffed piquillo peppers or fried sage) with a variety of wines, from prosecco rose to cabernet sauvignon. The tasting is 7:30 to 9 p.m. and the cost is $ 25 per person, plus tax and tip. If you’re interested, shoot an RSVP to deb@rusticcellar.com. There’s only a few spots remaining.Â
