Snarkmeister Anthony Bourdain found himself the main course last evening when both celebrity chefs and professional comedians made mince meat out of him at the “On the Chopping Block: A Roast of Anthony Bourdain” at Chelsea Piers.

The $ 400-a-plate event, part of the New York City Wine & Food Festival, was hosted by Mario Batali and Willie Geist. Celebrity chefs Rachael Ray, Eric Ripert, and Guy Fieri  turned up for a chance to participate in an evening that could very well be subtitled “karma is a bitch”.

This morning, Tony was on the Today show, where co-hosts Willie Geist and Savannah Guthrie asked how the experience was for him. “Like a prolonged and painful medical procedure”, replied the author, television host, producer, and chef.

Who, by the way, landed the most hits with their verbal missiles of abuse? If you were guessing Rachael Ray or Guy Fieri, celebrity chefs who are frequent Bourdain targets, you’d be wrong. The most caustic arrows were slung by comedian Bonnie MacFarlane. Earlier this morning, Bourdain tweeted the following:

. totally steals show and rips bleeding new orifice out of . I didn’t dodge a bullet. I dodged an ICBM ! # killed!

Here’s a clip from the Today show, complete with a snippet of MacFarlane ripping a new orifice out of Bourdain’s still-raw body:
